The adidas Sydney:10, Sydney’s fastest road race, is offering prize money and elite athlete assistance for athletes entering the 2011 event.
adidas Sydney:10 Prize money
For the first time, the adidas Sydney:10 will feature a prize pool of $4000. The prize money will be distributed as follows:
The first three outright place getters in the male and female 10km races will receive:
1st = $500
2nd = $300
3rd = $200
The following bonuses will also be awarded:
- If the winner breaks the existing Sydney:10 record (29:45 for men and 33:41 for women), a $250 bonus.
- Additionally, a $500 prize pool exists for athletes that who run under 29:30 (men) and another $ 500 for athletes that break 33:30 (women). This money will be divided evenly amongst all athletes that reach the standards.
Elite Athlete Assistance
Athletics NSW will provide assistance to interstate athletes in the form of accommodation and ground transport.
Athletics NSW will provide:
- 1x night accommodation on the Friday evening
- Ground transport from the airport and return.
Athletes who have demonstrated an ability to run under 30:10 (men) and 34:10 (women) sbould apply with recent performances to sydney10@nswathletics.org.au by no later than 13 May, 2011. Athletes should note that selections will be made on recent performances and personal bests, and all selections are made at the discretion of Athletics NSW.
Elite Street Mile
For the first time, Athletics NSW will conduct an elite street mile in conjunction with the Sydney:10. The course runs up and back Olympic Boulevard before finishing in Cathy Freeman Park. Athletes should nominate to compete only if they have run faster than 4:30 (male) or 5:15 (female) over 1500m on the track.
Nominations are available on the event website, www.sydney10.com.au and cost $5.
